What is a salt room?

Our salt room brings the beach to Columbus, Ohio. Kick back in our zero gravity chairs and listen to relaxing music while you sleep or meditate. The floor is covered with 3 inches of Himalayan salt. Salt panels, dim lighting, and beach décor highlight the space to give you a calm, comfortable feeling. We introduce pharmaceutical grade sodium chloride into the room with a halogenerator to saturate the air with negative ions. This will help to alleviate stress and give you an overall sense of well-being. Other benefits of the halogenerator may include relief from: asthma, allergies, COPD, emphysema, smoker’s cough, cystic fibrosis, skin conditions, depression, anxiety, and much more. This form of treatment is popular in Europe and in 1995, the Russian ministry of health recognized certain salt therapy rooms as medical devices.

How long is a session?

Salt therapy sessions last 45 minutes. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early. We do not allow late entry into the room. If you think you are going to be late, call ahead to discuss your options.

What should I expect during a session?

Just sit back and relax. The lights will be dim and the relaxing music will provide the ambiance. With our busy lives we forget how to just tune it all out. Prop your feet up, take a nap, or just close your eyes. You do have the option of bringing your own music with headphones, but try to keep volume down so it does not bother others. There may be up to 5 people at one time in the room, so we would appreciate it if there was no talking. If you would like to talk to your friends, you can rent the room and talk as much as you wish.

What do I wear?

Wear comfortable, loose clothing. If you have a skin condition you will want to have the area exposed to the salt. Wear a pair of clean white socks. We will have some available to borrow if you forget.

What do I do with my personal belongings?

We are not responsible for any missing personal items. You may bring your purse or bag in the room with you. We prefer you leave items in the car. If you must bring them in, they should be concealed to protect them from the salt. If you wish to use electronics, you must do so under your own discretion. Salt has corrosive properties which can cause damage over time and we cannot be held responsible.

Are children allowed in the salt room?

Yes. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult and must reserve their own chair. We would like for this to be a relaxing time and having kids under 6 could add unintended distractions, so please bring them to dedicated play times. If you bring a child over 6, you are responsible for making sure no talking is taking place. If you wish to talk during the session, please look at the room rental option.

What are salt play sessions?

We have a time for children to play in the salt as if it was a sandbox. We like to keep this to children under 6 years of age. Toys are available but you are more than welcome to bring your own. The lights will be turned on and we play music suitable to children.

Should I be concerned about being in the room with a person who has health issues?

Salt is anti-bacterial and anti-microbial to help provide a sterile environment. That being said, we will not allow a person in the acute phase of an illness into the salt room.
